While a somber topic we have another 2020 highligh While a somber topic we have another 2020 highlight that shows the amazing work out staff have provided. It has been widely reported that during 2020 there was a dramtic increase domestic and family violence. The need for help increased to numbers that stretched services to the brink.
In the last 12 months the number of domestic violence incidences reported across NSW is a staggering 31,692. (BOSCAR NSW 2020), that is more than the capacity of the newly built Bankwest stadium. What is even more frightening is that not all domestic violence case are being reported. Leaving a lot of victims living in fear and alone.
At CORE Community Services Intergrated Domestic and Family Vilence Program we also saw the dramtic increase in those needing our help. While the usual numbers of clients accessing our Case Management and Case Co-ordinated service is usually 45, this quadrupled during 2020 to 182.
While stretching resouces the case managers delivered amazing service during tough times. Often hampered by lockdowns, social distancing and COVID-19 restrictions the team work tirelessly to help those in need.
