Practice good hygiene

Whether you are in our centres, at home, at the shopping centre or anywhere, practising good hygiene is the best way to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

These are the simple things we can all do:

  • Wear a mask – there is increasing medical consensus that COVID-19 is transmitted through the air in tiny airborne particles as we breathe, cough, sneeze. A mask reduces your chances of being infected, or infecting others.
  • Regularly and thoroughly wash your hands (for at least 20 seconds) with soap and water. Wash the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails, and rinse well. You can clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand sanitiser, if you don’t have soap and water handy.
  • Wash your hands before and after eating or preparing food, after going to the bathroom, or travelling on public transport.  Regular hand-washing will kill any viruses that might be on your hands.
  • Dry your hands thoroughly, using paper towels.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, as much as possible.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then dispose of the used tissue immediately.
  • Avoid touching (shaking hands, for example) or standing too close to anyone. At least 1.5 metres’ distance is required.

Take care of your own health and be respectful of others

Practice social distancing by avoiding unnecessary contact to prevent the spread of the virus and be respectful of others.

Stay at home as much as possible and pay attention to what’s happening in your local community. Keep up to date with local news and health advice.

People who are healthy do not need to wear a face mask to protect themselves. The advice is different for people who are unwell.

If you’ve recently travelled overseas, please practice self quarantine and stay at home for 14 days.

If you do start to feel unwell (such as a fever, a cough, or trouble breathing) please stay at home, and call your GP for medical advice. You should call ahead before attending a medical practice if you suspect you have the virus.

It is important to us that everyone in the community feel safe and welcome.

If you find these information useful, please share with people you know. Let’s all work together to stay healthy and keep each other safe.
