Join that committee

No matter where you live, there’s some kind of community life in your neighborhood.

Joining a local group or network is one way on of getting involved with community life. In your local area there may be committees’ for youths, artists, professionals, multicultural groups that are linked to your local council, civic society groups and religious groups. Schools have a Parent and Friends Committee. All these committee’s provide opportunity for you to get connected with your local communities, but also allow you to share your ideas, ask questions and can help in creating welcoming and inclusive communities. One example can be to encourage your local school to celebrate Refugee Week or Harmony Day, to create awareness about the refugee experience. Check out social media platforms, and local websites with upcoming events and meetings, for opportunities for you to get involved.
