Media Release: CORE Community Services Secures Social Housing Accelerator Funding

14th May 2025

CORE Community Services is delighted to announce its successful bid for the Federal Government’s Social Housing Accelerator Funding (SHAF)  administered by Homes NSW, reinforcing its commitment to tackling homelessness and providing comprehensive services across all stages of life. As a grassroots organisation CORE is committed to providing avenues for individuals and families to thrive through programs and services across Southwest Sydney.

This new contract aims to provide stable housing and comprehensive support services to disadvantaged CALD communities in Southwest Sydney, ultimately working towards ending homelessness in our community. CORE’s approach integrates housing assistance with child and family services, youth programs, and aged and disability care ensuring a continuum of care for those who need it most. These holistic services not only address immediate housing concerns but also empower individuals to build a sustainable future.

Juana Reinoso, CEO of CORE Community Services, emphasized the importance of the new contract, stating: “This contract is a testament to CORE’s dedication to supporting individuals and families in our community. Housing is more than just a roof over someone’s head—it is the foundation for stability, dignity, and opportunity. Through this program, we can make a real difference to the lives of our most vulnerable community. We have identified an unmet need in the local area, and this Government program allows us to address it effectively.”

NSW Member for Cabramatta Tri Vo said this is a great example of how all levels of government and community housing providers can work together to deliver safe and secure homes for people who need them most.

“The Minns Labor Government is supporting community-based organisations that deliver housing alongside the support people need to rebuild their lives,” Mr Vo said.

“We’re delivering real solutions during a housing crisis by getting new homes built quickly and in communities like Mount Pritchard where they’re needed most.

“Homes NSW is partnering with providers like CORE who have strong ties to the local community and a clear understanding of how to help people from diverse backgrounds find safe, stable housing.”

CORE Community Services has long been a trusted provider of culturally sensitive and person-centred services in Southwest Sydney. The SHAF contract enables CORE to deliver a long-term solution that builds pathways toward stable, independent accommodation for our most vulnerable population.
