Media Release: CORE Community Services Secures Social Housing Accelerator Funding

CORE Wins Federal Funding to Support Social Housing

CORE Community Services is delighted to announce its successful bid for the Federal Government’s Social Housing Accelerator Funding (SHAF), administered by Homes NSW. This milestone reinforces CORE’s commitment to addressing homelessness and providing comprehensive support across all stages of life in Southwest Sydney.

Commitment to Supporting Vulnerable Communities

As a grassroots organisation, CORE is dedicated to helping individuals and families thrive through a wide range of programs and services. The new SHAF contract focuses on providing stable housing and holistic support to disadvantaged CALD communities in Southwest Sydney, aiming to make a tangible impact in ending homelessness.

Integrated Services for a Continuum of Care

CORE’s approach combines housing assistance with additional programs, including:

  • Child and family services

  • Youth programs

  • Aged and disability care

By integrating these services, CORE ensures a continuum of care that addresses immediate housing needs while empowering individuals and families to build a sustainable future.

Leadership Perspective: A Foundation for Stability

Juana Reinoso, CEO of CORE Community Services, emphasized:

“This contract is a testament to CORE’s dedication to supporting individuals and families in our community. Housing is more than just a roof over someone’s head—it is the foundation for stability, dignity, and opportunity. Through this program, we can make a real difference to the lives of our most vulnerable community. We have identified an unmet need in the local area, and this Government program allows us to address it effectively.”

Government Support and Collaboration

NSW Member for Cabramatta, Tri Vo, highlighted the importance of partnership:

“The Minns Labor Government is supporting community-based organisations that deliver housing alongside the support people need to rebuild their lives. We’re delivering real solutions during a housing crisis by getting new homes built quickly and in communities like Mount Pritchard where they’re needed most. Homes NSW is partnering with providers like CORE, who have strong ties to the local community and a clear understanding of how to help people from diverse backgrounds find safe, stable housing.”

Building Long-Term Solutions

CORE Community Services has long been recognised for delivering culturally sensitive and person-centred services in Southwest Sydney. The SHAF contract enables CORE to provide long-term solutions that create pathways toward stable, independent accommodation for the region’s most vulnerable populations.
