Throughout the years, there has been progression on diversity and inclusion in the workplace and an increased awareness that gender-biases still exist. Many women have had to work hard to simply be recognised for their skills and talents in their chosen field. CORE Community Services acknowledges the importance of International Women’s Day and celebrates the achievements of all women.
On the 9th of March, CORE Community Services will be hosting an event to celebrate International women’s day. This year’s theme is “Women in Leadership: Achieving an Equal Future in a COVID World” and invited guest speakers from various leaderships roles to celebrate and inspire the current and next generation of women leaders. The event will highlight and acknowledge the achievements women have accomplished throughout the
global pandemic.
Guest speakers include; Marian Baird AO, Professor for Gender and Employment Relations at University of Sydney and Kira Lea-Dargin (Owner, Willow & Co organics an indigenous skin care brand owner), Adjoa Assan (Youth Leader), Local business owner, Lamy Lan Le and Heba Jabbori, former client and volunteer.
Marian Baird will be speaking on her work with ‘Women and Work Research Group’. Fairfield Local Area is a very diverse community with 50.7 per cent of residents were female (ABS, 2016). Marian has done extensive research on Women and Work and in particular the obstacles women face especially during COVID.
Presently, CORE Community Services is led by 71% of board positions and 63% in senior management roles being females.
